Abarcando – Label Design
Bodegas Bellavista produces three wines in Jumilla, southern Spain, that appear as a family: “Abarcando” – united by a common graphic symbol and each with its own character in color and cuvée.
Abarcando El Corazón, the VINO24 Award-winning wine 2025, combines Tempranillo, Monastrell, and Syrah into a spicy, warm red wine with aromas of plum, black cherry, and blackberry, rounded off by Bourbon vanilla and roasted coffee. The Selección focuses on Monastrell and Syrah, presenting notes of elderberry, strawberry, and delicate violet in a velvety finish. The Rosado, made from pure Monastrell, brings strawberry and raspberry to the glass – juicy, dry, and with fine tannins. All three grow on limestone soils of the Jumilla Designation of Origin.
My Services
“Abarcando” – Spanish for “encompassing” or “embracing” – provides the series with its basic graphic motif: The concentric arcs trace the region’s mountain range and enclose the wordmark like a horizon, making all three bottles recognizable as a family.
Each variety carries the motif in its own color scheme: black with gold foil and relief printing for Abarcando El Corazón, the powerful VINO24 Award-winning wine 2025; white with gold foil and relief printing for the Selección; and a warm terracotta with gold foil and relief printing for the Rosado. This ensures the family is recognizable at first glance, yet each bottle is distinctive on the shelf.
For illustration, art direction, and artwork production, I accompanied the line motif from the first sketch to the production-ready print data for all three labels – coordinated with foil stamping, relief printing, paper color, and the different wine colors.
