L'Âme du Midi Rosé – Label Design
Les Vignobles Foncalieu unites around 600 winegrowing families in the heart of Languedoc – connected since 1967 by the ambition to translate the region’s soils and grape varieties into authentic, modern wines.
L’Âme du Midi Rosé is a semi-dry cuvée of 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah, grown on limestone soils in Languedoc-Roussillon. Hints of red berries and wild herbs bring the Garrigue landscape of Southern France into the glass – an uncomplicated, sunny rosé with 12.5% vol., sealed with a DIAM natural cork.
My Services
‘L’Âme du Midi’ – the Soul of the South – is the name the brand gives to its entire rosé line, and precisely this feeling was to be palpable on the label: the dry, fragrant Garrigue landscape of Languedoc, without appearing rustic. A delicate dove blue as the base tone and a hand-drawn wildflower illustration in navy blue give the rosé a subtle, elegant visual language – closer to a Provence apothecary bottle than a classic wine label.
The illustration along the left edge of the label shows lavender, thyme, and wild grasses of the Garrigue in fine lines – developed by hand and then prepared as final artwork for printing. The gold-embossed wordmark ‘L’ÂME DU MIDI’ and the handwritten signature ‘Rosé’ provide a warm counterpoint to the cool blue and refer to the Southern French origin of the Grenache and Syrah cuvée.
For illustration, art direction, and final artwork, I accompanied the label from the first botanical sketch to the production-ready print data – coordinated with the glass color, capsule color, and the DIAM closure solution of the bottle.
